The schedule for the orientation is quite lengthy and the packets detailing it would have put my bag over the weight limit at the check-in counter, but I am pleased that they are providing me with a wealth of information. Granted, I have made a couple of additions to the schedule (Blog-Writing and West Wing Watching Informational Session, Room 1169--12.30 to 13.15. Attendance Mandatory.) So far I have had the opening ceremony and introduction to my program and heard the keynote speech on Culture Shock. These were actually highly entertaining and delivered well. Quite funny. Yes. Quite. Um...ok. Then came lunch (I mean, earlier was breakfast too as well as a 5.30 am run. Self-congratulation all around. I have already won today.), which engendered groans from people around me when they announced that though the meal was designed to look like certain foods, there would, in fact, be no meat or animal products of any kind actually in it. I grinned and told everyone it was me.
