So, I have been asked to bring in my 'favorite' song for my class to listen to in order to decode the meaning from English.
This is presenting more of a challenge than at first one might think.
Why? Because it has to fit a certain amount of criteria.
It can't get me in trouble...
...any kind of trouble...
It has to give them a shot at being able to listen to the lyrics and understand, so no instrumental or classical...
can't be in a foreign..er language
...or otherwise unintelligible.
If the song is too old, they won't like listening to it
I know it seems judgmental, but the teacher has been forcing them to listen to Beatles and Andrew Lloyd Weber...so, they aren't in the mood for things over a decade old.
Yet, it can't be too new, because Japan is as savvy as a country can be about new releases.
It can't be too long either, because it is a class and I can't make it iPod Shuffle 101. This rules out anything over 4 minutes long.
We've knocked out 90% of what I listen to at this point.
Aaaannnd, finally, I have to add to the list that it actually has to be a song I like and can be happy about saying it is 'my favorite song'. I am not going to just choose something because it fits the 3-minute-long-English-easy-to-understand format.
Basically, I can't be embarrassed by it.
GD middle school messing me up again.
I want them to think I am cool!

I dare you to turn all these on at the same time. It is rawesome.
Just love the last one!!!
And couldnt handle for very long listening to all of them all at once!
I think the Joe Dassin song was a good pick, too bad we teach English.
Are you still looking for a song?
Yeah, I have until the end of term to find one.
LAST SONG. DO IT!
Two suggestions,
Any new musicals, since ALW is going, it's an easy transition..
Or..
when in doubt..
Bon Jovi is the answer.
